Leah Penniman, author of Farming While Black discussed her book at NYU on February, 6, 2019. Ms. Penniman is a "Black Kreyol educator, farmer/peyizan, author, and food justice activist from Soul Fire Farm." This topic absolutely drew my attention. Many of us know that our foods are not created equal. When I say this, I mean that people of color and those who are in a low socioeconomic arena, get the bottom of the barrel when it comes to quality foods, etc... Ms. Penniman is on "the mission to end racism in the food system and reclaim our ancestral connection to land." Her book is a must read.

Yori Huff's table had a colorful array of shirts and books, not to mention her regal smile and shining personality. Trust that I know a winner when I see one. You have to take a look at her books "SuperHero Huff(1-4)." Also, The Veil Of Victory also by Ms./Mrs. Huff, should be added to your "to read" list. I'm really appreciative that I was able to attend this event. I really met some amazing individuals(black, white, brown, yellow,..).
