On October 6, the official ribbon cutting of The Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball Charter School took place. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. , government officials, students, educators, community members and former legends of the NBA came out in full support. There were powerful words of wisdom shared to our young people. The legendary Earl Monroe, American former professional basketball player was in attendance. He spoke to over 100 students about this amazing space. Ruben Diaz Jr. said, "Talent is abundant but opportunity isn't." He also spoke on different skills and positions in basketball outside of just playing the sport. Michele A. Roberts, Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association advised students to "continue to play basketball but to hold on to that book." NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was also in attendance and a guest of honor. He advised our young people to "take advantage of this opportunity."

I love you guys. I'd rather show up to uplift each and everyone of you than to show up for your funeral. We're all going through life and it's good to know that we can come together out of pure love.
Let's start linking up again. Love always. Jew |
