Negga Melchior is the Chief Delegate to The United Nations Economic and Social Council(ECOSOC) for the NGO, The International Union For Land Value Taxation and Free Trade, and the IU. Teckla is also a NY-based anthropologist and a Barbudan. As the first NGO to support the Land Tenure System in Barbuda since 2016, the IU continues to support the people of Barbuda and their fight to maintain their land, culture and way of life. Her mother, Blandina Francis Negga , Barbudan born, is the highest ranking Barbudan to have worked in the UN Secretariat in its 72 year history. Ms. Melchior spoke on the human rights issues concerning Barbuda. She encouraged Barbudans and descendants of Barbuda to know their history. She spoke in great detail about the firm of lawyers looking into this, financing, funding, the 1901 Land Act, the 1904 Land Act, the 1976 Barbuda Council Act, Barbuda's perfect form of democracy and socio-cultural issues that we now face.
